Coach Ohlau-Outfielders, Hitters, & Mental Coach

     In 2005, after a successful college baseball career, Craig graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with a degree in Education (2015 MS EDAD) and began his career in teaching and coaching.  Craig was the head varsity baseball and head girls basketball coach at Meridian high school in Mounds from 2005-2008 before landing a job at Edwardsville High School.  At EHS, he coached 8 years of varsity boys and girls bowling and retired with over 700 combined wins and the schools’ all-time wins leader. He coached individual state champion Cody Clayton in 2009. Ohlau has coached varsity baseball alongside Hall of Fame coach Tim Funkhouser from 2008-Present with their teams accumulating many wins to go along with 6 regional championships, 3 sectional championships, 3 Elite Eight appearances, 1 super-sectional title, and a 2nd place finish in the 4A State Tournament in 2017. During Ohlau’s tenure, while focusing on the hitters and outfielders, he has provided tutelage to Five All-Americans (Dane Opel, Brock Weimer, Jordan Hovey, Jake Garella, Drake Westcott), Eight All-Staters (Dane Opel, Michael Failoni, Brock Weimer, Mathew Zielonko, Jordan Hovey, Jake Garella, Dylan Burris, Drake Westcott), Twelve Division 1 signees (Dane Opel, Tyler Mikrut, Andy Burns, Zach Maggio, Blake Graham, Drew Curtis, Derek Page, Brock Weimer, Aaron Jackson, Jordan Hovey, Jake Garella, Dylan Burris), and two ESPN top play award winners in the outfield (Dane Opel, Blake Graham). From 2010-Present, Craig has coached the 7th grade Lincoln Wildcats and has teamed up with Funkhouser to coach the Tiger Baseball 17U summer club team. Craig has volunteer coached in the EGCLLA, Drost Park Khoury League, SWIBL, and for the YMCA. He is currently a high school science teacher at EHS, a published author (The Sons of Chester), an ultra-marathoner and Ironman, but most importantly he is a husband to his wife Heather and a father to his three children Madelyn, Peyton, and Jocelyn.
